Deciding to Adopt
Deciding to adopt was something that came quite easy for us. I've always had a passion for Africa in general and felt something in my heart for that country. Whether it's their beautiful wildlife or feeling for their poverty and struggle they go through every day. To me, it was a pretty clear cut decision, didn't surprise me at all. I've never really wanted to get pregnant and have a baby. It seems unnecessary to me when there are babies out there waiting for a good, loving home. Chaske came around to the idea quite easily as well. He always said he wanted to have a child, but once I started mentioning to him that I feel much more inclined to adopt rather than have one, it didn't take him long to come around to it. He's really excited about it now and has even started reading!! However, he doesn't want to completely outrule having a bio-baby someday. He agrees when I said I'd like to have our Ethiopian baby first, so that they don't even feel left out, or like they are a second choice. They came first, we chose them, not because we couldn't get pregnant, but because adoption is our FIRST choice. We both think that's important. So that's us in a nutshell as to how we came to this conclusion to adopt. Ethiopia was such a clean choice for us as their people and culture are so interesting and beautiful. I don't feel this way for other countries...maybe someday, but not now :)

We are married!!!!!
As of Sept 14th, we are officially married, so that means I can get Chaske up to date on all my adoption infomation and we can finally sit down and seriously talk about the next steps we are about to make. He made me promise to get the wedding done with before we move onto adoption...whew, I'm surprised I actually made it through that haha :) Now comes the fun part!!! I cannot wait to get him up to speed, read, research, gather documents...and all that is to come!!!

Wedding Day is almost here!!!!!!!
Ok, so pretty sure my fiance thinks I'm crazy by now :) I keep saying "I just wish we were married already so we can get on with this adoption business" haha...I'm always a couple steps ahead of myself, you will soon see this. I have zero patience, so this process is going to be good for me :) We leave for Chico Hot Springs this Saturday and get married September 14th (Monday!) After that, Chaske is going to start diving into adoption with me. He made me promise we would do one thing at a time...well, needless to say I've been diving into adoption for a good 6 months now!! Can't wait to update him and get him going on it as well. We have 9-12mo wait after our wedding until we can officially start the process. In that time we will be doing lots of research, gathering documents, etc...anything we possibly can do before we officially start!! I hope to get lots of support from our family and friends once we make the announcement. We aren't making if for a month or so until we absolutely know this is what we are going to do and once Chaske gets caught up with me :) it's only fair to him that we wait...Can't wait, I plan to do more with this blog after the wedding!! Yayyy!!
